The Wynn Las Vegas Wynn Millions poker tournament was won by Andrew Moreno.

The Wynn Millions, featuring a $10,000 buy-in and 1,328 participants, concluded over the weekend. Due to the large number of participants, the prize pool of $10,000,000 quickly ballooned to almost $12.4 million. After a three-way agreement with Clayton Maguire and Toby Lewis, Andrew Moreno secured first place and won the prize pool of over $1.4 million.

Event Specifics

Once the final table was set for the Wynn Millions, the first elimination would not come until a little over 50 hands. After that, players began to leave one by one, eventually leaving just Moreno, Maguire, and Lewis.

When Salimi Admon was eliminated in fourth place, the remaining three players had almost the same number of chips. Because of this, negotiations for a compromise began. The three competitors settled on a seven-figure payoff for all of them and split the remaining 10% of the pot among themselves. The winner would receive an extra $313,000 on top of the seven-figure sum, while the runner-up would receive an extra $100,907.

Maguire would eliminate Lewis and move on to play head-to-head poker with Moreno. Moreno would soon double down, and Maguire would be into trouble. Maguire pushed with Ace-King, but Moreno called with Ace-Queen to settle the pot. Moreno would eventually win the hand and the competition when two queens appeared on the board.

Moreno announced his intention to focus on live poker and established two goals on social media before the Wynn Millions. He wanted to win enough money at a tournament in Venice to push his career earnings above $1 million.

Second, he aimed for a seven-figure financial reward. With the money he made from the Wynn Millions, he was able to fund his dream. Moreno has decided to keep on playing live poker and will participate in this fall's World Series of Poker. His wife, Kristy Arnett, is also pregnant with their first child, a son. He plans to play until the baby is delivered, at which point he will take some time off.
